Dr. Raul Pino, the state public health commissioner, presented Sredzinski with the award at a ceremony Monday at the State Capitol in Hartford.

Sredzinksi, who currently works as the public safety dispatch supervisor in Stratford, was recognized for his leadership and support for the EMS profession. A Republican, he represents Newtown and Monroe in the state House.

“I am so honored to receive this award and humbled to be recognized by my peers,” said Sredzinski. “EMS professionals do grueling work day after day that is literally a matter of life or death. I have worked to be an advocate for my fellow EMS professionals here in Hartford and will continue to speak up on matters that affect our community.”

The ceremony also marked the kickoff of National EMS Week during which DPH encourages residents to support their local EMS organizations
